What makes this conference different from other conferences out there?

One of the great things about the Texas Two-Step is that it's not just a standard writer's conference, where you'll sit in the audience and listen to a speaker.  We have several hands-on workshop style classes, where you will be working alongside the instructor, so if a question comes up, you can ask right away. You're not given a pile of information and left to sort it all out on your own time later--you are practicing the skills you're learning in real-time.

What can this conference offer me that others can't?

Aside from the workshop-style classes, we decided to make social media a major focus of the conference this year.  As publishing continues to evolve, perhaps the one constant is the need for writers, traditional and self-published both, to have a digital presence.  Even pre-published authors need to establish a social media platform and reach out to readers.

Because the digital landscape can be a confusing place, we're bringing in several social media gurus to deliver informative, applicable content for our attendees.

Will there be agent/editor pitch appointments?

No.  Due to the rise in self-publishing, many conferences are finding it difficult to fill their editor/agent pitch slots.  Rather than bring in editors and agents whose time may not be fully utilized, we elected to hold workshop-style classes, so that attendees could learn the tips and tricks that will take their work to the next level.

Do I have to write romance to attend this conference?

Not at all!  While our speakers are romance authors, we welcome writers of all genres!  Our class topics are geared toward a romance author audience, but are by no means specific only to the romance genre.  Writers of all genres will find something useful at our conference.

What if I am just a beginning author/writer? Will I be welcome here? What if I've never written a novel before--can I still attend?

We welcome writers at all levels of experience, from beginners to seasoned veterans.  Our social media workshops are divided into multiple sessions, depending on attendee experience level.  Whether you're just starting out, or you already have a social media profile, you'll walk away with new skills in your repertoire.

I want to attend but I write fringe stuff, like space operas or paranormal family sagas focusing on LGBT couples. Can I still attend and learn something that will help me leave and become a better writer/author?

Absolutely!  The Texas Two-Step is, at heart, a writer's conference.  No matter what genre you write, the classes offered will help you become a better writer.

How old do I have to be to attend the conference?

Because adult content may be presented in the classes, attendees must be 18 years or older to attend.

Can I bring my children/teenagers with me to the conference?

Yes!  We ask that you not bring any children/teenagers to the classes, but Fort Worth is a family-friendly destination, with lots to see and do.  Your family won't be bored while you're in class!
